when I knit, I find that I can let my mind and my hands focus.
every movement of my fingers has a purpose. it is methodical.
because my fingers only have one purpose, they can’t lead my mind to open too many tabs. all the scrolling has to be stopped.
but other parts of my body can get to work. my ears open, to music, to a podcast, to an audio book.
my skin touches the texture of the yarn.
my lips taste the tea – it is illegal in my house to knit without a cup of tea nearby.
and my whole self feels a sense of accomplishment after some time, looking at the progress made, touching the garment that has grown in the last minutes or hours.
knitting makes me feel connected to myself.
